Mt. Mang Zhi is one of the revered Six Ancient Tea Mountains of Xishuangbanna, known for its subtle power and elegant complexity. A Mountain Steeped in Tea History

Legend has it that Zhuge Liang “placed a bronze spearhead in Mangzhi” , giving the mountain its name. Historical records trace tea cultivation here back over a thousand years, with ancient settlements like Man Sai and Su Di having developed tea agriculture during the Yuan and Ming dynasties.

By the Qing Kangxi era, Mangzhi’s Niuguntang had become a vital tea trading hub in the north of the six tea mountains. Unfortunately, due to human disturbances in the 19th century, Mangzhi’s production scale diminished — which makes surviving ancient tree teas from this area even more rare and precious today.
