Wild Vigor, Unforgettable Sweetness, and the Spirit of the Highlands
Mt. Man Zhuan is one of the ancient tea mountains renowned for its Sheng PuErh's bold character—its wild vigor is as dynamic as a galloping horse. Sourced from ancient tea trees that have never been dwarfed, this tea is celebrated for its robust, intense flavour and remarkable aging potential.
- The tea exhibits a captivating plum aroma and a honey-like taste that evolves with each steep.
- Its liquor unfolds with a rich, deep yellow color and retains a natural fragrance that endures from the first infusion to the last.
- The experience is defined by a strong sweetness and a distinctly floral and fruity taste that connoisseurs admire.
Mt. Manzhuan is steeped in legend and history. It is one of the ancient tea mountain regions where the famous saying “Drink Yibang , see Manzhuan” originated — a nod to Yibang’s historical prestige and Manzhuan’s close second in taste and status in ancient tea lore. This reflects the high regard Manzhuan held, especially for its rich, sweet character and lingering depth, second only to the Emperor’s tribute tea.
The Manzhuan tea area spans regions including Manzhuang, Manlin, Manqian, and Bazongzhai. Located in the southern part of Xiaming Township in Mengla County and just west of Yiwu, this region is known for its unspoiled ecological environment. The tea trees grow scattered in wild, ancient forests; harvesting is labor-intensive, and production is exceptionally scarce.
Local tradition holds that the name “Manzhuan” in Dai means “big village” or “central settlement,” reflecting its longstanding cultural importance. Historical records such as the Bencao Gangmu and Dianhai Yuheng Zhi note that among the six ancient tea mountains, both Yibang and Manzhuan stand out for their superior flavor.
Produced by Lao Zhai Gu Cha (老寨古茶 OVP TEA), our Mt. Manzhuan Ancient Tree Sheng PuEr offers an intense, persistent aftertaste, excellent juice yield, and a uniquely layered profile. Its tea liquor is deep yellow, featuring a pronounced plum note with subtle hints of honey that harmonize into an unforgettable sensory experience.
