Born in 1943 in Yixing, He Dao-Hong is one of China’s most respected contemporary Zisha masters and among the first generation of officially recognized National Masters of Ceramic Art (2003). He holds the title of Senior Research-Level Master of Arts and Crafts (Level 1) and Jiangsu Provincial Master of Arts and Crafts, representing the highest echelon of Zisha artistry today.
He began his career in 1958 at the Yixing Zisha Factory, studying under legendary masters Wang Yinchun and Pei Shimin. In 1976, he furthered his artistic studies at the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts, refining a style known for its powerful structure, deep cultural roots, and timeless elegance.
From the 1980s onward, Master He’s works have been collected by prestigious institutions including the Palace Museum (Beijing), Ziguang Pavilion at Zhongnanhai, the Hong Kong Museum of Teaware, and the Central Academy of Arts and Design. His teapots have also been chosen as state gifts, representing China’s cultural heritage in international diplomacy.
