刺猬紫檀，属于中国红木国标里面的紫檀属，花梨木类。又因其色泽、花纹与黄花梨相似，所以市场上称其为“非洲黄花梨”。
刺猬紫檀生长轮颇明显。心材桔红、砖红或紫红色，常带深色条纹，划痕可见至明显；香气无或很微弱；结构细；纹理交错，美观大方。
刺猬紫檀是入门级的红木，性价比非常好。
African rosewood 从英文翻译过来是“非洲花梨木”。我们这里用料是刺猬紫檀，属于红木。
而市面上所说的“非洲花梨木”，不一定是红木里面的花梨木，大部分市面 的“非洲花梨木”是亚花梨、草花梨，它们不属于红木。那些与我们这里的刺猬紫檀的区别在于，刺猬紫檀是真正的花梨木，属于红木，这是与那些“非洲花梨木”的本质区别。
